Things to Do in Mijas This Summer: Events and Festivals

Night of Blues

Held on 12th July 2025 in the Mijas open air auditorium, this is a wonderful night of blues music that's open to all ages. The event is free, but in lieu of tickets, guests are asked to donate a kilo, litre, or pack of non-perishable food or personal hygiene products which will be given to the local food bank.

Carmen's Day

Taking place on 16th July 2025 across the Costa del Sol, Carmen's Day is a religious celebration that honours the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen. In Mijas you can watch the procession that passes through the town and down to the beach.

The Feria de La Cala de Mijas

Hosted from 24th to 28th July 2025 on the feria ground in La Cala de Mijas, this is a huge celebration where the town comes alive with attractions and performances. The feria opens with a parade and ends with a huge fireworks display. Throughout the feria you can enjoy traditional fairground fun as well as sporting events and musical performances.

Outdoor market in La Cala de Mijas

Held every Saturday from 9.00am to 2.30pm on the fairground, unless the fair is in town, this is a bustling market that's popular with tourists and locals alike. You can buy everything from fashion to souvenirs, and locally sourced produce to fruit and veg.

Flea market in Mijas

Taking place every Wednesday from 9.00am to 2.00pm at La Cala de Mijas fairground, this is a traditional Spanish market with a variety of stalls, offering a mix of fresh produce, clothing, accessories, and crafts.

Flamenco shows

A wonderful opportunity to explore traditional Flamenco dancing, these shows run every Wednesday and Saturday at 12 noon — Wednesday at Plaza Virgen de la Peña Square and Friday at Plaza de la Constitución.

Marenostrum Music Festival

Located in nearby Fuengirola, Marenostrum is one of the largest outdoor concert series on the Costa del Sol, running from 16th to 17th August 2025. The Marenostrum Music Festival electronic dance music festival has been hosted annually since 2014 as part of this event, and it attracts visitors from around the world.

Vive Mijas de Noche

Running throughout July and August, this programme — meaning "Mijas at Night" — takes place in Mijas Pueblo. Events include musical performances, a renowned craft market, and a flamenco festival, offering a great opportunity to cool off in the mountains on a hot summer evening.

Mijas Pueblo Fair

Taking place at the beginning of September every year, this festival honours the town's patron saint, the Virgen de la Peña. Attendees can enjoy stalls and bars, as well as traditional Sevillana dancing.

Held on 28th September 2025, at the end of the Mijas Pueblo Fair, this special event is aimed at tourists and celebrates the impact and importance that tourism has on the region. It involves wine, dancing, and other cultural activities.
