Wizz Air Have Launched A New €499 ‘All You Can Fly’ Pass: But Is It Worth Buying?

‘All you can fly” or unlimited flight passes are nothing new – American airlines have been offering these for years. But in a European first, the low-cost airline Wizz Air have decided to launch their own ‘all you can fly’ pass to entice frequent fliers across their network.

The price of the offer? €499 for an annual subscription. But if this ‘All you can fly pass’ worth the money? What’s the catch? And who will this deal actually work for? Here’s everything you need to know:

What Is The Wizz Air “All You Can Fly” Scheme?

It’s been all over the press in the last week, but what actually is the ‘all you can fly’ scheme and how does it work? This is essentially an annual travel season ticket: like a bus pass, but you can only use it on Wizz Air flights.

As an introductory offer, a full year's subscription costs €499 for a limited period before going up to €599. When you have this subscription ticket you can use it to fly on any of the Wizz Air network flights across the world, including dozens of flight route to and from Spain (which we’ll assume is your primary destination, given you’re reading this here!)

“We are thrilled to be the first to introduce this one-of-a-kind membership for travellers in Europe,” Wizz Air spokesperson Silvia Mosquera said in the press. “The membership will give customers hundreds of spontaneous travel options for a fixed price, giving them freedom to fly whenever is convenient without paying extra.”

So What’s The Catch?

Did you ever hear the phrase “if an offer seems too good to be true then it probably is?” For some people, that might be the case with this offer: there are some pretty tricky Ts and Cs that you’ll have to navigate. Firstly, if you want to book a flight with your ‘all you can fly’ ticket then "you are only able to book flights up to 3-days (72 hours) before departure" meaning that you can’t plan where you’ll go in advance: if you’re spontaneous and like a last minute trip then this might not be a problem, but if you like to plan ahead it might not work for you.

The same Ts and Cs also state that "seats are subject to availability" having the annual pass doesn't guarantee you a seat, especially during peak travel times. This means that you could try to get a flight 3 days before you want to travel and not get on board, over and over again. Technically you could have the pass and never fly anywhere!

The final catch that you need to be aware of is "By signing up for All You Can Fly, you cannot terminate your membership before the 12-months membership commitment period is over. The membership cannot be transferred to another passenger. The All You Can Fly is designed for individual travellers, so you cannot book All You Can Fly tickets for others." This means if you don’t feel your getting value from the ticket, you can’t cancel it and you can’t use it to buy flights for family members either.

It’s also worth noting that choosing your seat or taking any luggage on each flight will be subject to an extra charge. And as well as the €499 subscription fee and the baggage fees, each pass holder has to pay an extra €9.99 flat fee per flight.

So Is The Wizz Air All You Can Fly Pass Actually Worth It?

That’s such a hard question to answer, as the response will vary on a case-by-case basis. This base is best suited to those with the freedom to travel whenever and wherever they want to, and will probably be most valuable to those travelers not restricted by school holidays too, when flight availability is likely to be very limited.

It's also worth noting that the destinations available to Spain-based travellers are mainly central and eastern European countries, so this is something to consider too. Finally, Wizz was voted as the worst airline in 2024 by UK consumer group Which?, for its common delays, poorly rated customer service, and inferior comfort. Is it worth putting up with this to explore the world on a budget? If you’re a student, digital nomad, or world traveler the answer may be yes! But this pass certainly isn’t for everyone.
