New Dinosaur Theme Park Set To Open In Malaga

Malaga already offers a wonderland of attractions of family visitors, but in 2022 things are set to become even more exciting! A new dinosaur-style theme park, in the style of Jurassic Park is scheduled to open in Malaga for 2022. The exciting family-focused park will feature life-like dinosaurs, educational dinosaur excavation activities and even a zip wire for any thrill seekers in your group!!!

An Ambitious New Project

This is a huge construction project that will cost €3.6 million to complete, and cover an overall area of an incredible 68,000 square metres. The park will be called the Rincón de la Victoria Dinosaur and Zip Line Theme Park, and it will be built on the site of the Parque Victoria in La Cala del Moral. The attraction will include 35 replica dinosaurs: 19 of these will be life size reconstructions whilst 16 of them will actually move, to really give families a thrill (and maybe even a fright!)

There are also plans for the attraction to include a hiking trail, that will be constructed in the style of  the Jurassic period in southern Europe, plus fun sand pit excavation areas and other educational activity areas, to give children a taste of what it’s really like to be an archaeologist.

Opening Dates and Stages

The plan is for the various elements of the park to open in stages, as they are completed. The first stage of the development was originally slated for completion in 2021, but this has now been pushed back to 2022 as a response to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. It is the main Dinosaur land that is expected to be completed for 2022, whilst the zip wire construction won’t actually be started until 2024. The height and length of this zip wire has yet to be confirmed, but given the size of the park, expectations are that it will be a big one! Other smaller entertainment options will also be introduced throughout the various stages of the development, including face painters, food kiosks, and other forms of street entertainment.

Francisco Salado, the mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, released a statement to the media in which he said, "This theme park will be a tourist attraction with education elements based on the world of dinosaurs, where both large and small can actively enjoy their time."

Ticket Costs

The tickets costs are expected to range from between €17.50 to €20 . A 20% discount will be offered to  those with disabilities and school groups with 20 children or more. Admission for children under 3 years will be free of charge. Regular users of the existing park will be pleased to learn that entry is expected to be free to access part of the facilities and green areas.

Dinosaurs hold a near-timeless appeal for children (and adults) of all ages, so it is hoped that this huge and ambitious project continue to entertain visitors and residents in Malaga for many years to come.
