Good News For Football Fans! Here’s Where You Can Watch Euro 2024 For Free On TV In Spain

It’s a brilliant summer to be a football fan! The UEFA Euro 2024 tournament will be hosted in Germany and while you might not have tickets to go and see the matches live, that still means several weeks of high-quality football will be gracing your TV screens.

The good news is that the Spanish, just like the Brits, are a nation of football fans. SO you can follow many of the games live on Spanish TV. There is also an option to stream them online completely free of charge.

Here’s what you need to know about watching Euro 2024 in Spain:

When Does The Tournament Start?

The first match of Euro 2024 will be on Friday 14th June. This will be between the tournament hosts Germany and Scotland. The tournament will last for a whole month, with the final taking place on 14th July.

Spain’s first match will take place on the 2nd day of the tournament. Spain versus Croatia will kick of at 6pm (Madrid time) on Saturday 15th June.

Spain’s Group Stages

Spain is predicted to perform well in the group stages of the tournament and should feel confident that they will proceed into the quarter-finals. As well as facing Croatia on 15th June, they will also play against Italy (Thursday June 20th, 9pm) and Albania (Monday June 24th, 9pm).

Who they go on to play after that will depend on how they perform in these initial matches.

Spain are no strangers to winning the Euros, and are hoping they will be 4th time lucky this year! They have already won the tournament in 1964, 2008 and most recently in 2012.

This year the Spanish team is a strong one. They are the current champions of the UEFA Nations League.

Watching Euro 2024 In Spain

If you’re living or holidaying in Spain and want to watch as many matches as possible this tournament season then you’re in luck. Spain’s national broadcaster RTVE has been awarded the license to play the matches and will broadcast them all for free. You’ll find these on its main channel – La 1.

This is an exciting and near-unprecedented move. With the rise of pay-per-view sports and Spanish citizens expecting to be out of pocket to watch their favourite football teams. This is the time in 20 years that RTVE has gained the rights to air each and every single match of a European Cup tournament, meaning it won’t cost Spanish sports fans a penny.

If you’re in Spain on holiday and won’t have access to a TV then don’t worry. The channel will also be streaming all of the Euro 2024 matches on their RTVE play platform, meaning you can watch them on your mobile, tablet, or other device. Again, this will be completely free of charge.

It’s worth noting that the commentary will be in Spanish (which you would expect on Spanish TV!) If you’d prefer an English commentary then you might need to look into getting a VPN to stream international channels to watch the matches directly from your home country instead.
